 "Not a Suunto" 2008-07-10
By S. Bateman
Got this as a more attractive alternative to my Suunto Advisor. I really like the way it looks, but the function is no way near as advanced as my Suunto. Declination cannot be set for your location, and the altimeter is not as accurate. I had to remove 4 links from the band. And like someone else, the band does not pull my arm hair, a big plus. This will not travel with me when backpacking; it is kinda heavy at 3.4oz (my Suunto is 2oz).

Altimeter is real cool. I'm thrilled. BTW it says in the instructions not for a plane, so reasonable expectations here people this wont replace your airplanes instruments LOL !! Compass can be used inside the car as well as the Altimeter. Drove to the Grand Canyon and watched it tick off at 20ft increments, gave me the compass heading and alt continuously. Overall, would buy again AND tell all to buy it, John

Altimiter needs to be recalibrated each day. Not thrilled. Not for a pilot! Compass can not be used inside the car. Overall, would not buy again.

 "Horrible fit and finish!" 2007-10-13
By V. Bhe
I tried it on...and was immediately disappointed! It looks MUCH MUCH better in pictures than in the metal. I immediately returned it! Don't waste your time with this Pathfinder. The fit and finish was horrible---there were inconsistencies in the fit of the case and the case back, making its water resistance suspect. I have several G-Shocks, and they look and feel much better.

 "Casio Pathfinder Titanium" 2009-05-03
By Joshua D. Martinez
I am overall satisfied with the watch. A few things I've noticed. As the barometer changes, so does the altimeter reading, whether I changed altitude or not; but it can changed manually. Also, to get an accurate temperature reading, I had to take the watch off due to body heat, but other than that it seemed to be accurate, as did the compass.

 "A Great watch for the Tech-Minded" 2009-02-12
By Rancher (Amarillo, TX)
Pros: Visually appealing, Nice accuracy for most sensors and time keeping

Cons: Alarm volume and Hourly chime too soft.

I recently purchased this watch after reading several reviews and doing product searches. Sensors a fairly accurate. I had to rest the barametric sensor to correct to current atmospheric pressure. Showed 25.8 where local broadcast weather and barometer showed ~29.9 in Hg. Compass was right on. Altitude does vary significantly and is checked regularly against a GPS. Temperature must be removed to get an accurate ambient temperature since body temperature warms the watch and the sensor is close to skin. I like the diplay size and it's easy to read without my glasses. Auto-light feature works well. Alarm volume is another story. It is almost too quiet to hear unless you are in an extremely quiet environment. I thought I could use this as a morning alarm, but I have yet to hear it go off. Despite the thickness of the watch, it is easy to wear and not too heavy.

 "Heavy watch" 2008-08-30
By Keith Johnson
I had to try out this watch. I just broke the crystal in my Suunto Core trying to get the back off of it to fix the battery. This Casio watch is heavy. Functions are good but I prefer the Suunto watch with the same functions. This watch is very heavy. After sizing the band, it sits a little snug on the wrist. I can really tell it is there. I am only on day one with this watch and am testing it through the weekend to see if I can get used to it. I miss the storm warning alert that the Suunto core had. The problem with Suunto is that is made in China. It is cheaply made. This Casio is a rock. I will update this review after a couple of days.

"By far the best "adventure" watch ever!" 2007-08-14
By T. Supa (LA, CA)
I've had this watch for over a year now and I've truly enjoyed it. Never had any problems with it, and love all the great features. It's incredibly durable and surprisingly not very heavy considering the somewhat bulky size for watches in this category. The solar power and the atomic timekeeping are the best features -- never have to re-set the time or replace batteries. For those who have waterproof watches where batteries require replacement by factory authorized dealers, it never comes back the same once that original factory seal is broken. With the atomic timekeeping, you'll have to worry about that. I also love the auto EL backlight -- very handy when you don't have hands free. As with any altimeter watch, I've not found one that works too accurately, and this is no different. Definitely do NOT jump out of any planes with it. It's more of a general idea to track one's ascent/descent for light climbs in moderate elevations, but I wouldn't rely heavily on it by any means. The compass feature has been pretty accurate, as well as the thermometer -- just take it off and set it down for more accurate readings so it does not conflict with body temperature or wrist/body movement. The titanium band is not only incredibly tough but it goes well with any casual to formal attire. I wouldn't waste time or money on the other models in the Pathfinder line -- or any other "outdoors" "adventure" watches of any kind. This one offers the most features at the best price!!

 "Pathfinder Men's Atomic Timekeeping watch #PAW1200T7V" 2007-07-31
By J. Geunens (Antwerpen, Belgium)
It's a big and heavy watch. But it looks very nice. The compass works fine. The altitude meter is not really accurate, but it works good if you want to measure differences in height. The barometer seems to work. Only thing is, the temperature is only accurately given when the watch is not on your wrist (for a while). Seems your body temperature influences the reading. But I hear that all watches with a weather station have the same problem.

 "Outstanding time keeper" 2006-02-04
By Jim Krupnik (Watchung, NJ United States)
I bought this watch when it first came to market (about six months ago). It is a large watch, and it's not elegant in any stretch of the word, but it is built with self protective contours, and it's display is nothing short of awesome.

As for it's features, refer to the product description or free manual. It does everything Casio claims it can do, and does it in supurb fashion. It really is an awesome watch.

There are a couple of issues that I really want to point out though. First, the display is incredible. Even for a 51 year old like me, it is clear and sharp, no matter what mode is in play. The auto illumination mode takes it's toll on battery life, but it works like a charm, and can be turned on and off as you please. I leave it on in the summer, and switch to manual lighting in the winter. There is no pressing need to do that, but I enjoy seeing the battery charge indicator at the full mark all year long.

Just remember what I said. The display and the lighting are the best ever offered in a watch. You will be amazed. No kidding....

All of the sensor features are top notch. Don't even give them a second thought. You would be hard pressed to buy better at any price.

OK, here is the clincher for me. Casio claims that the watch is accurate to +/- 15 seconds per month. My watch has been keeping perfect time with a WWV radio controlled Seiko wall clock since the day I bought it. That's about six months now. Not even a second lost or gained during the entire time. That would make it the most accurate wrist watch I ever owned. By far. I heard a rumor that Casio has added radio timesetting to the next generation of Pro Trek watches, but I have not seen any announcement from Casio,

Still, unless my Pro Trek watch is a freak of production, I suspect that the PRG-80 series is already under radio control, as I have never owned a watch that can maintain perfect synchro with a radio controlled WWV wall clock for nearly six months runnung, yet mine does it very well.

I collect Citizen and a few other brands of watches, and I'm very happy with them. That being said, no watch I have ever owned is as bullet proof, functional, or as accurate as the Casio PRG-80 series wrist watch (I have the titanium band, but it should not matter a bit. The movement and case should be the same). It is simply awesome, and I still suspect that they might be radio controlled. I have never, ever had a wrist watch this accurate in my life.

Buy one. You can still collect other brands, but if you own this one, you will own a stabdard to set all the others on for years to come.

I'd be interested to hear from others about this watch. Having a full function, easy to read watch with the accuracy of an atomic clock is beyond any expectation. The PRG-80 delivers on all of it's promises.

Jim K.
